How BigDropUK handles personal data, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Last updated: 6 November 2026

1. Who we are

BigDropUK ("we", "us") runs www.bigdropuk.com, an independent guide to products sold on Amazon.co.uk. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at support@nodeplunge.com.

2. What we collect, and what we do not

We do not have user accounts, take payments, or run advertising or analytics trackers on the public site. The personal data we handle is limited to:

  • Server and security logs. Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write.

We do not knowingly collect special-category data (such as health data) and ask you not to send it to us.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • Running and securing the site (logs): legitimate interests, namely keeping the service working and protected.
  • Replying to your enquiry (emails): legitimate interests in answering the people who contact us, or taking steps you ask for.
  • Anything optional in future (for example analytics or advertising cookies): only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We do not use these today.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The public pages do not set cookies or store information in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for details, including cookies that other companies may set when you follow a link to them.

5. Affiliate links and Amazon

Product links on BigDropUK take you directly to Amazon.co.uk. We are an Amazon Associate and earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Our links carry our Associates tracking ID so Amazon can credit a qualifying purchase to us. We do not log your clicks or see what you buy. Once you are on Amazon, Amazon is responsible for your data and its own privacy notice and cookies apply.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising. We use service providers that process data on our behalf, such as our website hosting provider and our database provider (which stores product listings and site content, not visitor profiles). Product pictures are loaded directly from the image servers of Amazon and, for some products, of the open product databases we credit. When your browser fetches those images, the image host can see your IP address in the normal way. We may also share information where the law requires it.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or an adequacy decision.

8. How long we keep data

Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period according to its own retention settings. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and normally no longer than 12 months.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to our use of it, and, where relevant, receive it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it. To use any of these rights, email support@nodeplunge.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

10. Children

BigDropUK is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

11. Links to other sites

Our pages link to Amazon and other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their notices.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the date at the top. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
